SKF Opens Magnetic Bearing Factory in Morocco to Meet Rising Global Demand
"By improving our supply chain, we can shorten delivery times, improve delivery reliability and offer competitive solutions," says Thomas Fröst.
SKF has opened a new factory in Tangier, Morocco, which will initially employ around 60 people. The factory will manufacture components for magnetic bearings and high-speed electric motors, enabling SKF to meet growing demand for these solutions and strengthen the Group's position as a global leader in this field.
The factory can manufacture modular and scalable products that are easy to integrate into a wide range of applications. Magnetic bearings enable rotors to float without contact using a controlled magnetic field.
Because magnetic solutions operate efficiently at high speeds, without friction and with minimal maintenance, they are essential for high-speed machines such as compressors, turbines and motors, as well as HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems and semiconductors.
"We are excited about the economic and competitive advantages that the new facilities will bring, strengthening SKF's position as a key partner in the transition to sustainable development. By improving our supply chain, we can shorten delivery times, improve delivery reliability and offer competitive solutions. The investment also supports our commitment to sustainable development and innovation through carbon dioxide reduction, electrification and system intelligence," says Thomas Fröst, President of Independent and Emerging Business.
