Patria And United Aero Group Plan European Hub For Helicopter Maintenance
New cooperation aims to cut repair lead times and improve availability for military and emergency aviation operators.
Patria and United Aero Group (UAG) are planning to strengthen their cooperation in aviation maintenance by establishing a forward stocking location and helicopter blade repair centre in Europe.
The companies signed a memorandum of understanding on 10 March 2026 at Verticon in Atlanta. The planned facility is intended to improve access to critical spare parts and certified repair services, which are currently often sourced from outside Europe.
Reducing Lead Times And Costs
According to the companies, many European operators face long lead times for spare parts and rely on overseas repair facilities, leading to delays and higher costs. The new hub aims to localise these services and reduce turnaround times by an estimated 30 percent.
The initiative is particularly relevant for military, emergency medical services (EMS) and search and rescue (SAR) operators, where aircraft availability and readiness are critical.
Strengthening European Supply Security
“Patria’s strong regional presence combined with UAG’s global rotorcraft support expertise creates a strong partnership. Together, we can minimise fleet downtime, accelerate access to mission-critical components and strengthen security of supply for helicopter fleets across Europe,” says Pekka Ruutu, Executive Vice President of Sustainment Solutions at Patria.
The cooperation is also seen as supporting broader European defence objectives, including programmes such as the European Defence Industry Programme (EDIP).
Supporting Operators Across Europe
UAG highlights the operational benefits of the partnership for both governmental and commercial operators.
“Providing long-term solutions to keep fleets flying efficiently with industry-leading turnaround times makes this a strong partnership for the European market,” says Thomas Neumann, CEO of United Aero Group.
The companies have not yet announced a timeline for the facility’s implementation.
