Condition-based Lubrication with LUBExpert
Bearings are lubricated to reduce friction in their rolling elements. SDT ultrasonic system measures the level of friction produced by a bearing and stores it in a database for trending, alarming, and scheduling.
As lubrication condition changes so do friction levels which are best measured in the ultrasonic range. When a baseline ultrasonic alarm is compromised, a lubricator is alerted to the problem and can correct it before the bearing is physically damaged.
LUBExpert works by both listening and digital measurement. The system tells the operator when to grease, how much grease to apply, and helps avoid over-greasing during re-greasing.
It is a fully digital system that uses true RMS technology to accurately measure and quantify the ultrasonic signal. The only way to maintain an accurate condition-based lubrication program is to measure and trend dBμB dBμV (decibel level measurement units). Listen-only is too subjective.
Any tool that reduces unplanned downtime, allows lubricators to get a better handle on their job, reduces the amount of grease used, is simple to operate, and returns the investment in a few short months would be a measurable impact tool. It would explain why 90 percent of our literature requests are initiated by the customer’s need to improve its lubrication best practices.
SDT provides ultrasound solutions that help customers gain a better understanding of the health of their factory. The company helps businesses predict failures, control energy costs, and improve product quality while contributing to the overall reliability of their assets.
One of the main differences between a cost-efficient fleet that can deliver and one that can’t seem to keep up and control its costs is proper asset management. However, one part that often falls through the cracks in asset management is maintenance. Maintenance remains one of your most crucial and expensive operational costs and one you have to stay on top of if you want to avoid mistakes and surprise costs.
SKF extends the JIS compliant ball bearing units with its new 300 series for contaminated environments
The new UC 300 ball bearing units from SKF feature superior sealing and stronger locking and are interchangeable with all JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) housings.
